Privacy and cookies

I work with other people's measurement data every day. The least I can do is write down precisely what happens on my own site.

01 / Measurement

Only with consent

What this site measures

This site uses Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager. That only happens if you gave consent on your first visit. If you decline, or do nothing, Google Tag Manager is never loaded and no analytics cookies are placed.

What is recorded in that case: which pages were viewed, roughly which region you are in, what kind of device and browser you use, which source brought you here, and a few actions on the site: a click on a button towards the contact section, opening one of the tools, and whether a contact form was successfully sent.

What does not happen

  • No advertising cookies. There is no advertising running on this site.
  • No profiles, no remarketing lists, nothing sold on to third parties.
  • The content of your message, your name and your email address never go to Analytics.
  • No external fonts. They are hosted on this server, so nothing goes to Google Fonts.
  • No cookies before your choice, not even "functional" ones that quietly measure.

Your choice is stored locally in your browser so you don't have to make it again on every visit. That is not a cookie but localStorage, and it holds nothing except "yes" or "no" with a date.

The contact form

If you use the form, I process your name, email address, optionally your organisation, and your message. Only to answer your question. Sending runs through Netlify, the company hosting this site; from there the message reaches my inbox.

Nothing goes to a CRM, a newsletter list or an advertising platform. If a conversation doesn't lead to an assignment, I delete the correspondence once I no longer need it for my administration.

03 / Technical

Hosting and logs

Hosting

The site runs on Netlify. Like any web server, Netlify keeps server logs containing IP addresses among other things, in order to deliver the service and prevent abuse. I have no influence over that and I do not use those logs for analysis.

The UTM builder and the dataflow drawer run entirely in your own browser. What you type into them never leaves your device and is not stored anywhere.

04 / Rights

Access and deletion

Your rights

You may request which data I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to the processing. One email to info@groendata.nl is enough; I read my own email. If we don't resolve it together, you can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
